Newton and Pridgen Hunt for Three-Peat at Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Only two names have been engraved on the Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball trophy; Ernie Newton, of High Point, N.C. and Jim Pridgen, of Jamestown, N.C. The duo combined to post an impressive final round score of 11-under-par 60 on their way to victory last year. This year’s championship will be held from October 15-16 at River Hills Country Club in Lake Wylie, S.C. The club is no stranger to hosting CGA Four-Ball events, having held the 1980-81 Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball and 1996 Carolinas Senior Four-Ball.

Thirty-five other teams in the field will be looking to unseat the two-time champions. Part of the 2013 runner-up team, last year’s N.C. Super Senior champ, Rick Luzar, of Pinehurst, N.C. will team up with 2004 N.C. Senior Four-Ball champion Don Slater, of Durham, N.C. They are paired in the first round with last year’s third place team – George Leight, Jr., of Apex, N.C. and John DeLuise, of Raleigh, N.C.

The Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball is one of 40 championships conducted annually by the Carolinas Golf Association, which is in its 105th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
