Pinehurst Country Club Dominates Women’s Club Team to Win Seventh Title

Pinehurst Country Club (A) dominates the 8th Carolinas Women’s Club Team Championship this week at Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club to take home the win. The team finished at an impressive 23-under, securing the win by an outstanding 22 strokes to bring home the trophy for the seventh time.
Pinehurst Country Club (A) was represented by Kimbra Benson, Judy Penman, Jenny Kitchen, and Toni Notaro.
In Monday’s round of captain’s choice, Notaro + Benson were paired together and Penman + Kitchen were the other duo to kick off the competition. Notaro + Benson made a great partnership throughout the round and carded an incredible 11 birdies throughout the day together. The pair finished at 61, 10-under for the day, getting their team off to a great start. Penman + Kitchen recorded a bogey-free round, carding seven birdies to finish at 64, 7-under for the day.
After Round 1, Pinehurst Country Club (A) sat at 17-under and had an incredible nine-stroke lead over the next team at 8-under, putting them in a solid position with 18 holes left to play.
In the Final Round on Tuesday, the field played Pinehurst alternate shot, and Pinehurst Country Club’s team stuck with their successful pairings from Round 1. Notaro + Benson and Penman + Kitchen were ready to lead their team to victory. Both duos played very strong, consistent rounds on Tuesday. Both partnerships finished with bogey-free scorecards and three birdies, finishing at 3-under each to bring their team to 6-under for the day, 23-under total, ultimately claiming the title by 22 strokes.
Pinehurst Country Club has won this event now seven times out of the eight years of this championship, dominating the competition yet again.
Pinehurst Country Club (B) finished in second place at 1-under, and Pinehurst Country Club (C) finished in third place at 1-over.
