Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC continued her solid play shooting a final round 73 for a three day total of even par 216 to capture the 58th Carolinas Junior Girls’ Championship at Hope Valley CC in Durham, NC. Spicer, a rising high school junior, had a seven shot lead heading into the final round and extended that lead to win by eight over Jessica Kittelberger of Raleigh, NC. “I tried to do the same things I did the first two day” stated Spicer. “Jessica (Kittelberger) was playing well too and that helped me concentrate during the round” added Spicer. Kittelberger, who will begin playing college golf next month at Dartmouth, finished alone in second place with a total of eight over par 224. Eighth grader Holly McCann of Raleigh finished in third place at 227.
In the other flights, Ashley Czarnecki of Greenville, SC and Gracyn Burgess of Leesville, SC shot 234 and tied for first in the first flight while Savanna Wood of Boone finshed in third place with a 235. In the second flight, Jaelyn Tindal of Rock Hill, SC took first place with a 238 while Carley Cox of China Grove, NC finished second. Hailey Freedman of Chapel Hill, NC tied for third place with Savanah Goodman of Easley, SC at 242. Chapel Hill’s Sarah Towne’s 249 took first place in the third flight by three shots over Anna McDonald of Hickory, NC. Amanda Yannoni of Cary finished in third place with a 256.
