Carolinas Golf Association Executive Director Jack Nance Announces Retirement

The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) is announcing that Executive Director Jack Nance plans to retire effective December 31, 2024.

 

Since 1984, Jack has served in various roles with the Association, including communications, course rating, rules and competitions, and as Executive Director beginning in January 1992. 

 

Jack works directly with the CGA Staff and Executive Committee, the USGA, and the regional golf associations in the Carolinas.

 

“This wonderful career I have had with the CGA was not planned out as a teenager,” Nance joked. “Timing, friends, and good fortune played a big role in me getting a job at the CGA in the first place. I will be forever grateful to those who introduced me to the business and to those who had enough confidence in me to keep me here for over 40 years.  I have been blessed with lifelong friends through the CGA.”

 

Jack is a past president of the International Association of Golf Administers (IAGA) and has served on numerous USGA committees. He has worked as a rules official in over 30 USGA championships and also qualified for the 1980 US Amateur as a player.

 

“Jack has dedicated most of his professional life, including the past 32 years as Executive Director, to the CGA,” said CGA President Rick Riddle. “His invaluable leadership has resulted in an all-time high in number of members, a highly-competent and professional staff, a significant growth in championships and other competitions, growth of our foundation, and the construction of Carolinas Golf House in Southern Pines.”

 

Riddle added, “Although Jack’s institutional knowledge will be impossible to replace, we aspire to find a new Executive Director for this impressive organization Jack has guided.”

 

The Carolinas Golf Association has grown to over 700 member clubs representing over 200,000 golfers in the Carolinas. The Association conducted over 370 golf events in 2023.
