Preview: 64th Carolinas Junior Girls' Championship

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 20, 2020) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 64th Carolinas Junior Girls’ Championship at Country Club of Asheville in Asheville, N.C. from July 21 - 23, 2020. (5,975 yards, par 36-35--71)

Players to watch:

 

• Adrian Anderson of Murrells Inlet, S.C. has placed in the top-10 for an astonishing 25 out of 30 tournaments in the last year. With a win at the WSCGA Junior Girls’ Championship and finishing runner-up at the South Carolina Junior Match Play, Anderson is now the No. 6 ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Girls’ Rankings. 

 

• Alexia Siehl of Fort Mill, S.C. is one of our most recent junior girls’ champions after her incredible win at the South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship. The week after her win, Siehl claimed runner-up at the Blade Junior Classic. Siehl is currently the No. 12 ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Girls’ Rankings.
   

• Morgan Ketchum of Winston-Salem, N.C. is the No. 13 ranked player in the Carolinas Junior Girls’ Rankings after winning the N.C. Junior Girls’ Championship just last month. Ketchum also finished tied for second at the Carolinas Women’s Amater in June and tied for eighth at the Dogwood State Junior Girls’ Championship.

 

• Molly Hardwick of Lexington, S.C. has had five big wins in the last year including the Precision Jr. Girls’ Championship at Bryan Park, the SCJGA Players Championship and the South Carolina Region 5A Championship. Hardwick is the No. 4 ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Girls’ Rankings.
   

• Isabella Britt of Chesnee, S.C. most recently made it to match play in Pinehurst’s North and South Junior Girls’ Championship and claimed victory at the Upstate Open in May. Britt is the No. 9 ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Girls’ Rankings. 

 

With bent grass greens and scenic fairways, the Country Club of Asheville is a classic Donald Ross track that shows off the Blue Ridge Mountains and downtown Asheville while providing a challenge for all players.  This is the first time that the Country Club of Asheville has hosted the Carolinas Junior Girls’ Championship.

 

The championship format is 54-holes of stroke play competition.

 

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer ages 12 to 18 as of July 23, 2020, who has not started college, maintains a residence in North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
