Torey Johnson to Join the CGA

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (May 2, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Torey Johnson as a Tournament Administrator. Johnson will handle pre-tournament administration for men's and women's championships such as communicating with host club staff and tournament participants. She will also travel to provide on-site support at CGA championships as needed.

 

Johnson gained amateur golf administration experience this year working as an intern for the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association. Her responsibilities there included creating tournaments within the Tournament Pairing Program, designing promotional materials, and managing social media accounts.

“Torey has an extensive background in golf even before working in golf administration”, stated CGA Executive Director Jack Nance. “Her family has a long history with the game which benefits her and us even more."

"I am extremely honored and excited to be joining the Carolinas Golf Association," said Johnson, a Moore, S.C. native.  "Having participated in Carolinas Golf Association events in the past, I know the first class experiences players are provided by the CGA. I am looking forward to being a part of this prestigious team to continue to administer top quality events and services for the CGA golfers.” Johnson was a member of the Carolinas team in the 2011 and 2013 Carolinas-Virginias Women's Team Matches.

Rita Longest

In 2014 Johnson graduated from Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S.C., where she was a member of the golf team.  Her other experiences in the golf industry include volunteering with the Dorchester Dragons Special Olympics golf program and Swing Thought Tour, and working in the golf shops at CGA member clubs River Falls Plantation in Duncan, S.C., and Black Bear Golf Course in Longs, S.C.

After more than seven years with the CGA, Tournament Administrator Rita Longest is retiring. "It was a hard decision, but I want to spend more time with the grandkids, etc."

"Rita has been an extremely dependable staffer,” said Nance. "She put in her years and is due some well-deserved time away from the workplace."

Johnson will begin her position with the CGA on May 23^rd. Longest is retiring June 1^st.
