Ten to Watch at Creed Boys'
The Carolinas Golf Association’s boys’ 2015 championship season continues this weekend with the 3rd Creed Boys’ Invitational at Camden Country Club in Camden, SC. The Camden Country Club Board of Directors created the Creed Junior Boys’ Invitational in 2013 to honor Mr. Jimmy Creed of Camden, SC for his support of junior golf at Camden Country Club. 96 junior boys from across the Carolinas will play 36 holes (18 each day) over Saturday and Sunday, May 23rd and 24th while competing in three divisions based on their age.
Mr. Creed passed away in October of 2012 as one of the most popular and well thought of members at Camden Country Club. “He loved kids and was very supportive of the junior golfers at the club,” said Camden CC head professional Matt McCarley. McCarley added, “He was a former junior champion here at the club and made it to the semi-finals of the CGA four ball championship.” Proceeds from the tournament will go to a scholarship foundation to help local kids.
Here are ten players to watch at this year Creed Boys’ Invitational:
1. Will Hicks of Camden, SC. Hicks, a high school senior, is the junior club champion at Camden CC. Hicks will play collegiate golf this coming fall at Erskine College.
2. Eric Bae of Pinehurst, NC. Bae, a high school junior, recently won the NC 4A state championship. Bae is currently ranked #3 in the NC junior boys’ rankings.
3. Jordan Warnock of Roebuck, SC. Warnock, a high school junior, has not finished high than tied for 18th in any of the junior tournaments he has played in this spring. Warnock is ranked #14 on the SC junior boys’ rankings.
4. Walker Cress of Concord, NC. Cress, a high school junior, finished tied for third place in the last years Creed Boys’ and currently ranked #11 in the NC junior boys’ rankings.
5. Zakariya Butt of Summerville, SC. Butt, a high school junior, has six top ten finishes this spring with three first place finishes. Butt is ranked #16 on the SC junior boys’ rankings.
6. Wesley Simmons of Kinston, NC. Simmons, a high school junior, finished tied for 12th in last years’ Creed Boys’ and ranked 25th in the state of NC.
7. Jamie Wilson of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Wilson, a high school junior, won the SC 2A state championship in 2014 and is ranked #19 on the SC boys’ rankings.
8. Alec Weary of Bluffton, SC. Weary, a high school freshman, won last fall’s SCJGA Player Championship and is ranked 20th on the SC boys’ rankings.
9. Walker Simas of Charlotte, NC. Simas, a high school junior, finished tied for third place in the 2014 Creed Boys and is 46th on the NC boys’ rankings.
10. Jack Parrott of Columbia, SC. Parrott, a high school sophomore, is the reigning SC Junior Championship (stroke play) and currently ranked 27th in the state of SC.

Located in historic Camden, South Carolina's oldest inland city, the Camden Country Club was chartered in 1899 as a place "for golf, polo and other athletic sports" and established in 1903. Camden Country Club is considered one of South Carolinas distinguished private clubs. Camden Country Club golf course was re-designed in the late 1920's by the renowned golf course designer/architect, Donald Ross.
