Patty Moore Pursues 8th Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur Title
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- For the past fifteen years, Carolinas women age 50 and over have been competing in the Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur Championship. In nearly half those contests, the same woman, Patty Moore, 64, of Charlotte, N.C. was crowned champion. On the Lakes-Foothills routing of Governors Club in Chapel Hill, N.C., Moore will look for her 8th event win and 17th overall CGA title.

70 women will compete in 36-holes of stroke-play from October 7-8 in the 16th Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur. Past champions in the field include three-time winner Pat Brogden, 60, of Garner, N.C.; Carole Jones, 69, of Hillsborough, N.C. (2005); Karen Ferree, 64, of Hilton Head Island, S.C. (2003); and Lynn Roloff, 66, of Winston-Salem, N.C. (1999).
The 27-hole golf facility at Governors Club is a 1990 Jack Nicklaus signature design. The layout follows the natural contours of Edwards Mountain, skirting serene lakes and quiet woodlands while winding through the neighborhoods of Governors Club and wooded valleys of lush Carolina foliage. This is the fourth CGA championship hosted by the club.
The Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur is one of 40 championships conducted annually by the Carolinas Golf Association, which is in its 105th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.

Course/Slope Rating: Championship Division - 72.3/130; Tournament Division - 71.0/128
Format: USGA Rules Apply, 36-holes of stroke play with a Championship Division and a Tournament Tee Division (shorter tees). Players will be flighted after the first round within their respective divisions.
Eligibility: Female amateurs with a minimum age of 50 as of October 7, legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 40.4.
