Cape Fear CC Hosts 7th N.C. Super Senior Amateur Sept. 29-30
WEST END, N.C. -- The 7th North Carolina Super Senior Amateur Championship will be played at Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington from September 29-30. Opened in 1896, the club is the oldest private country club in the state and has longtime ties with the Carolinas Golf Association. Three Carolinas Amateur Championships have been conducted on the original Donald Ross designed course that will be set at approximately 6,100 yards with a par of 72.
Last year’s winner Rick Luzar, 67, of Pinehurst was the only player with a two-day total under par at Carolina Trace CC in Sanford. In his quest for repeat victories, Luzar will need to triumph over past champions Larry Boswell, 71, of Jamestown (2008, 2010, 2012), Mike Sprouts, 69, of Newton (2011), and John Deluise, 70, of Raleigh (2009).

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 65th birthday by September 29, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 15.4.
The North Carolina Super Senior Amateur is one of 40 championships conducted annually by the Carolinas Golf Association, which is in its 105th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
