Cassetta & Gies,II Take a One Shot Lead After 36 Holes at N.C. Four-Ball

RALEIGH, N.C. – Second round results of the 19th North Carolina Four-Ball Championship hosted by North Ridge Country Club (Lakes Course) in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 (6688 yards, par 36-36—72, 72.9/134).
Chris Cassetta, Winston-Salem & David Gies, II, Charlotte posted a second round eight-under par 64 to take a one shot lead heading into Sunday’s final round. The tandem carded eight birdies in their round and seek their first career CGA title. Their two-day total of 15-under par 129 is one stroke ahead of Gary Robinson & Brian Dreier of Fayetteville (130).
Seven teams are within four shots of the lead including round one co-leaders Dustin Moore, Greensboro & Blair Bowland, Burlington (131) and Preston Edmondson, Morrisville & Eric Brady, Cary (132) along with 2006 champions Mark & Brian Gauley of Raleigh (131).
The average score in round two was 69.8 almost a full stroke easier than round one despite breezy conditions.
The field of 60 teams was cut to the low 30 scores and ties for the final round on Sunday. The cut line fell at four-under par 140 with 34 teams qualifying for Sunday play. Final round tee times will begin Sunday at 8:00am from the 1st tee.

The North Carolina Four-Ball Championship is contested over 54 holes of four-ball stroke play. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday by October 3, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.
This event is one of 40 championships conducted annually by the Carolinas Golf Association, which is in its 105th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
