ASHEBORO, N.C. - After a tight battle through the final day of play, Griffin Williams of Greensboro, N.C. entered the winners circle as he claimed the 26th North Carolina Junior Boys’ 14 & Under title. Williams finished at a total of three-under-par, 69-68, after shooting two-under-par on the final day to secure the championship.

After the first day, Williams led the field as he finished with a 68 (-1). On the final day through the front nine, Slater Meade of North Wilkesboro, N.C. evened the playing field as he was tied for the lead with Williams through the final stretch. Williams’s dominant performance on the back nine with three birdies on holes 10, 13, and 16 sealed the win.

“I battled as hard as I could today. I would say the up and down game this week was just amazing for me,” said Williams. “This win is just nice to have, to know that I am progressing as a golfer. Hopefully more wins are next for me.”

In second, Meade finished with a two-day score of 139 after shooting one-under-par on the final day. Chapel Hill, N.C. native, Ryan Baker, shot a total score of 142 (+2) to solidify possession of third as Ty Donnelly of Waxhaw, N.C. took fourth with a score of four-over-par.

The Carolinas Golf Association would like to extend our appreciation to the members and staff at Asheboro Municipal Golf Course, especially Head Golf Professional Austin Stout and Golf Course Superintendent Tracy Garnett for graciously hosting the 26th North Carolina Junior Boys’ 14 & Under Championship.
