WEST END, N.C. — North Carolina and South Carolina will each send three-woman teams to the 10th USGA Women’s State Team championship at the NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, September 17-19.
The event is played biennially and usually attracts teams from more than 40 states. Despite the large participation, the Georgia women’s team has won three of the last four titles and is the defending champion. The event is not open to college players due to NCAA regulations.
Amber Marsh-Elliott of Greensboro, Angela Stewart of Greenville, and Debbie Adams of Asheville will represent North Carolina.
Dawn Woodard of Greer, Lea Venable of Simpsonville and Terrie Allemang of Hilton Head will play for South Carolina.
In this three-day, stroke-play event, the two low scores of three each day will count toward the team total. In the previous nine events, the Carolinas’ best finishes have been North Carolina who has finished second twice (1997, 2003).
