Preview: 13th Carolinas Super Senior Championship

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 4, 2021) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 13th Carolinas Super Senior Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. from June 7-8, 2021. The 65+ division will compete at 6,062 yards and the 70+ division will compete at 5,500 yards (par 36-36--72).

The Country Club of South Carolina features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by golf course architect Ellis Maples. CCSC is made up of Bermudagrass and after visiting the course in the late 1960’s, Maples took some inspiration from the courses of the Sandhills in North Carolina down to Florence with his use of bunkering around the golf course. 

 

The Championship is contested at 36 holes of individual stroke play. Gross scores only. A tie for the 65+ Division or 70+ Division is decided by an on-course playoff. Players may select the division in which to compete if eligible.


Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 65th birthday by June 8, 2021, maintains a residence in North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 15.4.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
