2021 U.S. Women's Open Qualifying
from Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club, Southern Pines, NC

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (May 5, 2021) -- Final results from 2021 U.S. Women's Open Qualifying at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 (6334 yards, par 36-36--72, Course/Slope rating: 75.8/130).

Lauren Stephenson of Lexington, S.C. blew away the field at the U.S. Women's Open Qualifier hosted by Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club. Stephenson finished with an impressive 7-under-par total of 137 in the 36-hole qualifier to claim medalist honors by five strokes. Stephenson started off strong with three birdies and no bogeys in her first nine holes, which propelled her to an opening round of 3-under-par 69.  After a short rest between rounds, Stephenson again got off to a hot start in round two with four birdies in her first nine holes and finished strong with not a single bogey in round two. Stephenson is a Lexington, S.C. native and turned professional in 2019 after playing college golf at the University of Alabama. Stephenson competes on the LPGA Tour and played in the 2016 and 2017 U.S. Women's Open Championship as an amateur.

After storms struck Southern Pines, N.C. in the evening, round two was suspended with seven groups left to finish three holes or less. After the resumption of play Wednesday morning, Haylee Harford of Leavittsburg, O.H. posted a two-under-par 142 total to join Gina Kim of Durham, N.C., Natalie Srinivasan of Spartanburg, S.C. and Jaravee Boonchant of Thailand in a tie for the remaining qualifying spots. On the second playoff hole, all four players hit their approaches within 12 feet of the hole. Harford and Kim sunk their birdie putts to claim the remaining two qualifying spots. Harford is currently a professional competing on the Symetra Tour and this will be her first U.S. Women's Open appearance. Kim plays college golf at Duke University and recently won the individual title at the ACC Women's Championship. Kim also finished with low amateur honors and tied for 12th overall in the 2019 U.S. Women's Open Championship.

Gina Kim and Jaravee Boonchant claimed low amateur honors at the qualifier. After a grueling 8-hole playoff, Natalie Srinivasan secured the first alternate position and Jaravee Boonchant claimed the second alternate position.

Three qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.

The championship proper will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, C.A. on June 3-6, 2021.

This qualifier was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association on behalf of the United States Golf Association.
