Smyth wins NC Junior Girls' Medalist Award

Riley Smyth of Cary, NC followed up  her first round of 69 with a second round of even par 72 to win the medalist award at the 20th NC Junior Girls' Championship.  Smyth, a high school junior, finished the 36-hole stroke play qualifying with a total of three under par 141 on the Donald Ross designed course at Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, NC.  Smyth finished one shot ahead of Madison Isaacson of Greensboro, NC and two shots ahead of Rachel Kuehn of Asheville, NC.
 
The field was cut to low 31 for match play with the cut score falling at 165.  Defending Champion Grace Massengill of Hickory, NC will be seeded #1 for match play.
