SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 6, 2017) -- The Carolinas Golf Association's 11th Carolinas Girls' 15 and Under Championship will take place July 10-11 on the Country Club of Whispering Pines' Pines Course in Whispering Pines, N.C.

The Championship and Junior divisions are contested at 36-holes of individual stroke play. Players will be flighted after the first round. In the Sub-junior division, players compete in 18-holes of individual stroke play (9 holes each day). Entry is open to any female amateur golfer who has not reached her 16th birthday by July 11, 2017, who has not started college, and is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina.

This marks the eighth time in nine years that the championship has been conducted at the Country Club of Whispering Pines. The theme of The Pines course involves using the open, hardpan rough, sparsely covered with the native pine straw and “love grass”, to create the elements that appealed to the late, great Donald Ross. Champion Bermuda greens were renovated in 2016. The legendary Ellis Maples, a Donald Ross prodigy, designed both courses - Pines and River - at the club.

Scoring will be provided by the CGA throughout the championship. Live updates will also be available on the CGA’s Junior Department Twitter account, @CarolinasJunior. Continue to visit the CGA website throughout this championship and all year long for complete championship coverage including scores, interviews, photos, and recaps.
