36th South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship (for boys and girls) at Lancaster Golf Club in Lancaster, S.C., July 9-12
WEST END, NC – More than 140 South Carolina junior boys and girls will gather July 9-12 for the 36th South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship at Lancaster (S.C.) Golf Club. The championships are conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA).
A total of 102 boys and 42 girls will vie for the thrones vacated by 2012 champions Carson Young of Pendleton and Morgan Webber of Moore. While the field is divided by gender, there are no age divisions.
Entry is open to any amateur golfer who has not reached his or her 19th birthday by July 12, who has not started college, who is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, who is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and who has a current USGA handicap index® at that CGA member club.
After a round of 18 holes of stroke-play qualifying, players will proceed to match play after flighting and seeding.
The front nine of the Lancaster GC layout was laid out in 1939 by famed course architect Donald Ross. The back nine was designed 30 years later by Russell Breeden.
