Cary, NC—Three of the top four seeds advanced to the
round of 16 in the 46th NC Junior Boys’ Championship being conducted
on the Highlands course at Prestonwood CC in Cary, NC. Medalist Keegan Hoff of Charlotte continued
his stellar play defeating Will Stewart of Charlotte 3&2 and then Eric
Mitchell of Winston-Salem 2 up in a close match. The other two top seeds to advance to
Thursday are Benjamin Griffin of Chapel Hill and Austin Inman of Leland. Number two seed Dong-Jun Kim of Waxhaw exited
early after a 1 up victory by Jordan Clontz of Nebo. Hometown favorite playing on his home course James
Mishoe, IV of Cary also advanced to the round of 16 defeating Jack Speer of
Winston-Salem, 7&6 and Elliott Grayson of Shelby, 2 up.
The high lite of the day was John Landers of Raleigh
making his first career ace on the par three sixth hole in the morning
matches. The tournament continues on
Thursday with round three matches in the morning followed by the quarter final
matches in the afternoon.
This annual junior championship is conducted by the
Carolinas Golf Association.
