Weston + Poe Are Victorious at Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball

Congratulations to Rich Weston + Mike Poe of Pawleys Island, S.C. + Hilton Head, S.C., on taking home the trophies for the 13th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship at Columbia Country Club in Columbia, S.C.

 

Originally a 36-hole event, this championship was shortened to 27 holes due to weather. 18 holes were played for Round 1 on Wednesday, and nine holes were played for the Final Round on Thursday.

 

The winning duo carded rounds of 66-32 for a two-day, 27-hole total of 98, 10-under. They recorded 10 birdies across the two rounds and no bogeys.

 

After Round 1, four teams were tied for first at 6-under, 66 in the 65+ Division: Weston + Poe, Randall Sullins + Phil Bland of Claremont, N.C. + Sherrills Ford, N.C., David Boaz + Johnny Helms of Denver, N.C. + Mount Holly, N.C., and Jonny Elam + Macon Moye of Charlotte, N.C. + Southern Pines, N.C. Two more teams were right behind them at 5-under, four more teams at 4-under, with a total of 19 teams under par for the day. 

 

In the Final Round of nine holes on Thursday, Weston + Poe birdied holes 1, 2, 4, and 5, climbing their way to the top of the leaderboard with a double-digit red score. 

 

Duff Wagner + Todd Hendley of Greenville, S.C. + Columbus, N.C. finished in second place at 9-under for the tournament. 

 

In the 70+ Division, Donald Detweiler + Paul Simson of Raleigh, N.C. went home victorious after shooting rounds of 65-34 for a two-day, 27-hole total of 99, 9-under. 

 

After Round 1, 15 teams were under par, with Detweiler + Simson leading by one after shooting a 65, 7-under. They birdied two holes in the Final Round on Thursday to take home the win by one stroke at 9-under. Four teams finished tied for second place at 8-under.
