Preview: 8th Creed Junior Boys' Invitational

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (September 17, 2020) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 8th Creed Junior Boys’ Invitational at Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. from September 19 - 20, 2020. The field will compete at 6,372 yards, par 35-35--70.

Players to Watch:

 

• Tyler DeChellis of Clayton, N.C. is the top-ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. This summer, DeChellis finished third at the TYGA Coastal Plains, tied for fourth at the Hope Valley Junior, tied for sixth at the Dogwood Junior Boys’ and claimed solo fifth at the Carolinas Junior Boys’.
   

• Zach Adams of Charleston, S.C. is ranked No. 2 in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. In August, Adams finished runner-up at the Mimosa Hills Junior after a four-hole playoff. He also tied for second at the Future Masters and tied for fifth at the S.C. Junior Match Play Championship. 
   

• Daniel Brasington of Woodruff, S.C. has finished in the top 10 nine times since the start of the year. With wins at the Morgan Lucas Champ and the Spring Swing Classic, Brasington is the No. 3 ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings.
   

• Jerry Bruns of Beaufort, S.C. finished third at both the SCGA Junior Championship and the Grant Bennett Florence Junior this summer. He is the No. 4 ranked golfer in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. 
   

• Griffin Tarver of Tega Cay, S.C. has had nine top-10 finishes this summer including a victory at the Carolinas PGA Junior and a solo fourth place at Carolinas Junior Boys’. Tarver is ranked No. 6 in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. 
   

• Trey Crenshaw of Lancaster, S.C. claimed the S.C. Junior Match Play Championship in July, just after winning the SCGA Junior Championship. Since then, Crenshaw tied for sixth at the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship to be ranked No. 11 in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. 
   

• Andrew Swanson of Bluffton, S.C. has made quite the run this summer with ten top-10 finishes since May. He started his summer off as runner-up at the Upstate Junior Classic, then made it to the Semifinals at the S.C. Junior Match Play. Since then, Swanson has finished runner-up at the Sea Palms Junior Classic and tied for fourth at the Mimosa Hills Junior. He is ranked No. 10 in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings.
   

• Adam Hunt of Columbia, S.C. is the reigning Jimmy Anderson Boys’ Champion and ranked No. 8 in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. 

 

The championship is contested at 36 holes of individual stroke play at Camden Country Club. The Donald Ross design was recently renovated in 2013 by Kris Spence, giving it a challenging, but inviting layout with pristine conditions and scenic landscapes.

 

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer ages 13 to 18 as of September 17, 2020, who has not started college, has a USGA handicap of 15.0 or lower and maintains a residence in North or South Carolina.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
