SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (Aug 2, 2019) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 42nd Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship at The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C. August 5-6, 2019. (Championship Division - 6,162 yards, par 36-36—72; Senior Division – 5,315, par 36-36—72)

Teams to watch:

Championship Division

• Jodee Tindal of Rock Hill, S.C. will return this year to defend her title but with a new partner by her side. Emily Dunlap of Greenville, S.C. won the 2018 S.C. Junior Girls’ Championship and has several top-ten finishes already this year including a T6 at the North & South Junior at Pinehurst, a T3 at the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour Southeastern Open Championship and a sixth-place finish at the Palmetto Classic. Along with her Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball title that she won with her sister, Jaelyn Tindal last year, Jodee has three other CGA Championship titles including the 2019 Carolinas Parent-Child that she won with her father, Kevin Tindal.
• Jessica and Sarah Spicer of Bahama, N.C. are twin sisters, teammates at Virginia Tech and will join forces this week in an effort to add another CGA trophy to their shelves. Jessica, the third-ranked amateur woman golfer in the Carolinas, won her second CGA Championship title of the year at the Carolinas Women’s Amateur Championship. Her first title came in January at the Carolinian Amateur Championship. Sarah has several strong finishes so far this year including a T8 at the N.C. Women’s Amateur Championship, T6 at the Carolinas Young Amateur Championship and she made it to the Round of 16 at the Carolinas Women’s Amateur Championship. A win this week would make for a collective six CGA Championship titles for the Spicers.
• Muskan Uppal of Cornelius, N.C. and Alexis Sudjianto of Charlotte, N.C. are two of the youngest competitors in this year’s field but have already proven themselves a force to be reckoned with. Sudjianto claimed her second CGA Championship title at the Twin States Girls’ Championship in June and has a slew of top-10 finishes this year including a T7 at the Carolinas Women’s Amateur Championship, making it to the quarterfinals at the N.C. Junior Girls’ Championship and a T4 at the North & South Junior Championship at Pinehurst. Uppall made it to the Round of 16 in the Carolinas Women’s Match Play Championship, T16 at the Carolinas Women’s Amateur Championship and has a couple second place finishes this year including the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour Spring Invitational and the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior Championship.
• Callista Rice of Mars Hill, N.C. and Kathryn Carson of Mooresville, N.C. are pairing up after facing off against each other earlier in the year at the North Carolina Women’s Amateur Championship. Carson was the champion of the event while Rice finished T2. Carson placed a very solid T5 at the Carolinas Women’s Amateur and Rice also had a nice finish with a T16 at the same event.

Senior Division

• Our reigning Carolinas Senior Women’s Player of the Year, Lea Anne Brown of Charleston, S.C. is pairing up with three-time CGA Champion, Kim Briele of New Bern, N.C. Brown and Briele, are currently ranked second and third respectively in the Carolinas Senior Women’s rankings. Briele won the event in 2001 with partner, Jenny Jones and in 2018 with Patty Moore.
• Three-time Carolinas Four-Ball champion Leigh Armentrout of Greensboro, N.C. will return to the field with partner with Linda Daniel of Huntersville, N.C. Armentrout won the event in 1987, 1989 and 1990. The duo competed together in 2017 finishing T3 and finished in fourth place in 2018 in the Senior Division.
• Kathy Binkley of Cornelius, N.C. and Lisa Mooneyham of Graham, N.C. will look to recreate the magic that won the duo the title in 2000. Binkley is currently ranked fourth among senior amateur female golfers in the Carolinas. Mooneyham is a two-time CGA champion and also won the Carolinas Women's Amateur in 1997. The team looks to improve on last year's performance where they finished third.

The championship is conducted at 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. All players have the option to play in the Championship Division (approximately 6100 yards) or the Senior Division(approximately 5200 yards). The Senior Division will be comprised of teams in which both players have reached their 50^th birthday by August 5, 2019.
