Preview: 15th Dogwood State Junior Boys’
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 26, 2019) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 15th Dogwood State Junior Boys’ Championship at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. from July 30-Aug 1, 2019.

Players to watch:
Pierce Robinson of Kings Mountain, N.C. is coming in hot off a win at the 70th Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship at River Landing Country Club. He’ll be looking to ride that momentum into a second win in only two weeks. He was one of the top-finishing juniors at the Carolinas Amateur Championship placing tied for 17th.
Alex Heffner of Harrisburg, N.C. is currently ranked in the top ten of the Carolinas Junior Boys’ rankings. Heffner’s best finishes of the year came at the N.C. Junior Boys’ Championship where he finished runner-up and the TYGA Sapona Junior Open that he won in April. He also finished tied for second at the Creed Boys’ Junior Invitational in May.
Garrett Risner of Holly Springs, N.C. has had a string of top finishes this summer including a win at the Bojangles’ Junior Open, a T10 finish at the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship and a solid T29 at the Carolinas Amateur Championship.
Caleb Surratt of Matthews, N.C. is on a winning streak after bringing home the trophy three events in a row at the Tarheel Golf Foundation - 10th Annual Golf Pride Tour Championship, the NCHSAA 1A State Championship and the NCHSAA 1A Midwest Regional Tournament. Surrat made it to the Round of 16 at the N.C. Junior Boys’ Championship.
Casey Osiecki of New Bern, N.C. has played more than twenty-four events this year with an impeccable 16 top-ten finishes. In July alone, Osiecki has three top-5 finishes including the TYGA Triad High Point Junior, the TYGA Jack Ratz, Jr. Memorial and the TYGA One-Day at Brook Valley.
Randall Hudson of New Bern, N.C. has had several top finishes so far this summer but is looking for his first victory. Hudson was a semifinalist at the N.C. Junior Boys Championship and had top-five finishes at the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship, the Bojangles’ Junior Open and the Creed Boys’ Junior Invitational.
Spencer Oxendine of Fayetteville, N.C. is the top-ranked junior in the field sitting in third position in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. Oxendine has a scoring average of 71 and a string of top finishes over the last year including a tie for ninth in the Carolinian Amateur and also in this event last year. Oxendine won the Hope Valley Junior Invitational last fall.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday by August 1, 2019, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member or their parent is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 18.4.
The championship format is 54-holes of stroke play. Field will be cut to the 70 and ties after 36 holes.
