Carles and Rogers Move On at the SC Junior MP

 

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (July 11, 2019) -- Girls’ Round of 16 and Boys’ Round of 32 match play results of the South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship at Berkeley Country Club in Moncks Corner, S.C. from July 9-12, 2019. (Boys’ Division - 6,700 yards, Par 36-36--72) (Girls’ Division - 6,000, Par 36-36--72)

Despite two rain delays and an early morning continuation of play, all of the girls’ round of 16 and the boys’ round of 32 matches have come to an end this morning.

As for the girls division, Kayleigh Reinke of Rock Hill, S.C. earned a bye due to being the first seed, therefore Phoebe Carles of Clinton, S.C. was the highest seed in the round. Carles defeated Jennifer Rials of Florence, S.C. with an impressive 8 and 7 finish. Carles will be facing off against Gillian O’Brien of Clemson, S.C. in the quarterfinals later this morning.

In the boys’ division, the number one seed Willis Rogers of Charleston, S.C. defeated Jay Lowder of Greenville, S.C. 3 and 2 in their round of 32 match. He will square up against Jerry Bruns of Beaufort, S.C. in the round of 16. Bruns won his match in an exciting 20 holes against Robert Thompson of Greenville, S.C this early this morning.

The Girls’ Quarterfinals and Boys’ round of 16 matches will begin at 9:00 a.m. this morning. The players that win their matches will move on to the Girls’ Semifinals and Boys’ Quarterfinals later this afternoon.
