Field set for 62nd VA-CAS W Team Matches

The 2017 Carolinas Women's Team

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 11,2018) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 62nd Virginias-Carolinas Women's Team Matches at Sea Pines Country Club in Hilton Head, S.C. from July 16-18, 2018. The annual team match is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association, Virginia State Golf Association and West Virginia Golf Association.

 

Carolinas Team Roster:

Amateurs

Anna Redding, 21, of Concord, N.C. is currently ranked No. 2 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. Redding won the 2018 Carolinas Women's Amateur, carding an impressive five-under-par 211. Earlier this year, she finished runner-up at the 2018 South Atlantic Amateur. Redding is a rising senior at the University of Virginia and recorded a 73.13 stroke average and 3 top-10 finishes in her junior season.

Anne Taylor Hough, 21, of Spartanburg, S.C. is currently ranked No. 9 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She was a quarterfinalist at the 2017 Carolinas Women's Match Play and finished T14 at the WSCGA Amateur Championship. Hough is a rising senior at Virginia Tech, and she recorded a 75.25 stroke average in the fall of her junior season.

Courtney McKim, 27, of Raleigh, N.C. is currently the top-ranked female amateur golfer in the Carolinas. McKim is a past CGA champion, winning the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball in 2015 with partner Stephanie Pribonic. She was also named the 2017 Carolinas Women's Player of the Year. Earlier in 2018, she was a quarterfinalist at the Doherty Women's Amateur in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and she recently finished T2 at the 2018 North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship and was the runner-up at the 2018 Women's Eastern Championship.

Courtney Stiles, 36, Pinehurst, N.C. is currently ranked in the top-30 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. Stiles qualified and competed in the 2017 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship in Houston, Texas. Stiles is the Executive Director of the First Tee of the Sandhills.

Jessica Spicer, 20, of Bahama, N.C. is currently ranked No. 6 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She is a past CGA champion, winning the 2014 Carolinas Junior Girls' Championship. She won the North Carolina Women's Amateur in 2017. A rising junior at Virginia Tech, Spicer had two top-20 finishes for the Hokies and recorded a 75.34 stroke average in her 2017-2018 season.

Jodee Tindal, 19, of Rock Hill, S.C. is currently ranked No. 10 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. 2017 was a big year for Tindal and she finished T2 at the Carolinas Young Amateur Championship, T4 at the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship, and was a quarterfinalist at the Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship. She is a rising sophomore at Mercer University and had a 77.21 stroke average during her freshman season.

Kayla Thompson, 22, of Whiteville, N.C. finished second at the 2017 Carolinas Women's Four-Ball with partner Lea Venable. So far in 2018, she has three top-10 finishes, including a T7 finish at the Women's Eastern Championship. A recent graduate of UNC Wilmington, she ranked third on her team with a 75.96 scoring average and had two top-10 finishes. She is currently ranked in the top-30 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas.

Keri Kenkel, 19, of Charlotte, N.C. finished ninth at the Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship earlier this year. A rising sophomore at UNC Greensboro, Kenkel posted a 75.47 stroke average during her freshman season and had a top-20 finish at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic. She is currently ranked in the top-50 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas.

Lea Venable, 44, of Simpsonville, S.C. is currently ranked No. 7 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She is a three-time CGA champion and won the 2013 Carolinas Mixed Team and the 2012 and 2014 Carolinas Women's Four-Ball. In 2017, Venable won the WSCGA Match Play Championship and finished runner-up at the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball. Venable is a veteran on the team and one of the best mid-amateurs in North and South Carolina.

Madison Moosa, 20, of Charlotte, N.C. is a two-time CGA champion, winning 2013 Vicki DiSantis Junior Girls' and the 2015 Carolinas Junior Girls’ Championship. Earlier this year, she finished T17 at the Carolinas Women's Amateur. She is a rising sophomore at Furman University and recorded a 76.3 stroke average and had one top-20 finish during her freshman season.

Mary Chandler Rainey, 24, of Chapin, S.C. is currently ranked No. 20 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. In 2017, she finished T6 at the WSCGA Amateur Championship and was the runner-up at the Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship.

Natalie Petersen, 19, of Holly Springs, N.C. is a two-time CGA champion, winning the Dogwood State Junior Girls' and the Jimmy Anderson Girls' Invitational in 2016. A rising sophomore at Georgia Southern University, she posted three top-20 finishes and ranked third on her team with a 77.12 scoring average.

Sarah Spicer, 20, of Bahama, N.C. is currently ranked No. 16 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. The past CGA champion finished T4 at the 2017 Carolinas Young Amateur Championship and advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2017 Carolinas Women's Match Play. In June, she finished fifth at the 2018 North Carolina Women’s Amateur Championship. Spicer is a rising redshirt-sophomore at Virginia Tech, and she recorded a 76.83 scoring average during the 2018 season.

Victoria Huskey, 20, of Greenville, S.C. finished T5 at the 2018 Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship.  The rising junior at College of Charleston had three top-10 finishes during her sophomore season, including a T2 finish at the CAA Women's Golf Championship. She recorded a 75.11 stroke average and a low round of 68 her sophomore season. She is currently ranked in the top-50 among female amateur golfers in the Carolinas.

 

Seniors

Angela Stewart, 64, of Greenville, N.C. is currently ranked No. 5 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She is a past CGA champion, winning the North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur in 2011. Last year, she competed in the 2017 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Championship and won the 2017 Carolinas Women's Four-Ball with partner Pat Brogden. Earlier this year, she finished T2 at the 2018 North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

June Wang, 56, of Huntersville, N.C. is currently ranked No. 7 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She finished seventh at the 2017 Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur Championship, and she finished sixth at this year’s North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

Karen Ferree, 67, of Hilton Head, S.C. is currently ranked in the top-20 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. Earlier this year, she finished second at the 2018 WSCGA Senior Championship.

Kim Briele, 57, of New Bern, N.C. is currently ranked No. 3 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. Briele is a three-time CGA champion, including the 2015 North Carolina Senior Women’s Amateur and the 2016 Carolinas Senior Women’s Amateur. In 2017, she finished T2 at the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship with partner (and current teammate) Patty Moore. Recently, she finished fifth at the 2018 North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

Lea Anne Brown, 58, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. is currently ranked No. 4 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. Last year, she finished second at the 2017 Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur. In 2018, she finished fifth at the WSCGA Senior Championship.

Leigh Coulter, 60, of Hopkins, S.C. is currently ranked No. 8 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. In 2017, she finished 11th at the Carolinas Senior Amateur and T7 at the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball with partner Susan Beaupied. Recently, she finished fourth at the 2018 WSCGA Senior Championship.

Linda Daniel, 59, of Huntersville, N.C. is currently ranked in the top-20 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. In 2017, she had two top-10 finishes. Daniel finished T4 at the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship with partner Leigh Armentrout and sixth at the Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur.

Pam Prescott, 54, of Piedmont, S.C. is currently ranked No. 12 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. Earlier this year, she won the 2018 WSCGA Senior Championship after shooting a two-over-par 74 in the first round. She also won the Carolinas Division at the 2018 Carolinas Women's Amateur.

Patty Moore, 68, of Charlotte, N.C. is currently ranked No. 2 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She is the most decorated female golfer in CGA history with 19 CGA titles, including seven Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur titles and four North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur titles. In 2017, she finished T2 at the Women's Eastern Senior Championship and the Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship in the senior division. Most recently, Moore finished fourth at the 2018 North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur. Moore is serving as co-captain of the Carolinas Team in 2018.

Terrie Allemang, 58, of Hilton Head, S.C. is currently ranked No. 9 among senior female amateur golfers in the Carolinas. She finished eighth at the 2017 Carolinas Senior Amateur Championship. Earlier this year, she finished third at the 2018 WSCGA Senior Championship. Allemang is the 2018 captain of the Carolinas Team.

Competition begins on Monday, July 16th with four-ball match play.

 

Eligibility: Invitation only. Each team consists of 24 total players; 14 amateur players (ages 18+), eight senior players (ages 50+) and two super senior players (ages 60+).

 

Team Selection: Automatic exemptions on the Carolinas Team go to the Carolinas Women's Match Play champion, Carolinas Women's Four-Ball champions (2), Carolinas Women's Amateur champion, Carolinas Women's Amateur Runner-Up, Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur champion and Carolinas Senior Women's Four-Ball champions (2). Additional spots are filled based on the Carolinas Women's and Senior Women's rankings. Four spots are also reserved for captain's picks.
