Quarterfinals Set for SC Match Play
No. 1 seed Andrew Orischak advances to Quarterfinals
GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 15, 2018) -- First and second round match play results of the 46th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship at The Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C. on Friday, June 15th (7,065 yards, Par 36-36--72, Course Rating 73.6/134).

Round of 32: Medalist and No. 1 seed Andrew Orischak of Hilton Head Island, S.C. defeated Jarrett Grimes of Columbia, S.C. 4-and-3. Orischak continued his solid play with four birdies on the front nine, giving him a 3-up lead going into the back nine. Orischak would go on to birdie the par 5 11th, and eventually close out Grimes with a birdie on the 15th hole.
In the biggest upset of the day, No. 30 seed Harry Reynolds of Greenville, S.C. defeated No. 3 seed Jack Parrott of Columbia, S.C. No. 25 seed Stephen Reynolds, brother of Harry Reynolds, would also complete an upset, taking down the No. 8 seed Michael Hocker of Aiken, S.C. 5-and-4.
No. 26 seed Stan Sill of Spartanburg knocked off No. 7 seed Connor Bruns of Duncan by a score of 2-and-1. Bruns, the 2016 S.C. Amateur Match Play champion, fought back from a 3-down deficit, but it was not enough as Sill would advance to the Round of 16. Three-time champion and the No. 5 seed Todd White of Spartanburg defeated the No. 28 seed Doug Ramey of Greer by a score 1-up.

Round of 16: The No. 1 seed Andrew Orischak of Hilton Head Island was the first golfer to claim his spot in the quarterfinals, defeating McClure Thompson of Little River in 19 holes in the afternoon round. Orischak came out hot winning the first two holes to take a two up lead. After a back and forth round, Thompson would birdie the par-4 18th to extend the match. A bogey on the first playoff hole would allow Orischak to advance. Orischak will face No. 9 seed Zachary Bishop of Travelers Rest, who defeated Stephen Reynolds in the Round of 16.
No. 2 seed Logan Sowell of Kershaw defeated Cabrick Waters of Gaffney in the second afternoon match, punching his ticket to the quarterfinals. Sowell took control of the match with an eagle on the par-5 6th, and would never give up his lead, cruising to a 2-and-1 victory. Sowell will play the No. 10 seed Nick Russell of Hilton Head in the quarterfinals, who defeated Stan Sill of Spartanburg in 20 holes during the Round of 16.
Christian Salzer of Sumter ended Todd White's quest for a fourth SC Amateur Match Play Championship, defeating him 1 up in the Round of 16. Salzer will face Onterio Jones of Simpsonville in the quarterfinals. Jones defeated Kyle Scruggs of Gaffney 4-and-3 to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.
Harry Reynolds of Greenville, the No. 30 seed, took down the No. 14 seed Christian Baliker of Simpsonville 3-and-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. Reynolds will face James Lightsey of Fort Mill, who beat Brandon Coggins in the Round of 16 by a score of 1 up.
