Defending champions Ron Hall, Jr. and Dalton Mauldin of Sanford, N.C. will be competing again this year. Last year, the team from Carolina Lakes Golf Course won with a score of 64 in a challenging championship format; both team members play from the teeing ground, switch golf balls for the second shot, then select one ball for the third shot and play alternate shot until the ball is holed. A team must then complete the hole with the ball selected.
Matt Workman of North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh, N.C. is returning to compete once again but with a new partner for the tournament. This year, he will be competing with Alex Walsh. Last year, Workman was able to finish with a tie for sixth with a score of 67. With his new partner, Alex, he plans to make a run for the title.
Teams Will Straub/Tim Straub of Huntersville, N.C. and Marcy Newton/Grady Newton of Winston-Salem, N.C. will also be competing again. Last year, they were two of nine teams that tied for tenth with a score of 70. They each will be looking to build on last year's performance to try and dethrone the defending champions Hill Jr./Mauldin.
River Run Country Club is considered to be one of the most beautiful facilities in the state. Each year, this championship-level golf course hosts some of the region's largest and most competitive tournaments.
