U.S. Open Local Q Duke Univ GC Results

DURHAM, NC – Final results from U.S. Open Championship Local Qualifying hosted by Duke University Golf Club in Durham, NC on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 (7100 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating: 73.9/141).

Five qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site. 

Cory Renfrew of Canada carded a six-under par 66 to take medalist honors. 2013-14 Carolinas Amateur champion Carter Jenkins of Raleigh, N.C. also advanced to sectionals with a three-under par 69.

The five qualifiers advanced to sectional qualifying that will be played at 12 sites located throughout the U.S. (10 sites) and internationally in England (1) and Japan (1).

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.

Now in its 106th year, the CGA annually conducts 43 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. It also runs over 140 One-Day (net and gross) events and qualifying for USGA national championships. The CGF has distributed more than $1,500,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
