Three Past CGA Champions Tied for the Lead at 15th Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur

Blythewood, SC – First round results of the 15th Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur Championship hosted by Columbia Country Club (Ridgewood-Tall Pines) on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.  Par 36-36—72  5688 yards. 

Three past CGA champions are tied for the lead after shooting a 2-over par round of 74.  Ashley Rose of N. Augusta, SC; Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC and defending champion Pat Brogden of Garner, NC will vie for another CGA trophy for their case.  Both Rose and Brogden carded two birdies on the day on the tough Ellis Maples design while Moore carded a single birdie on the par 3 14th hole.    Only two shots back are Karen Ferree of Hilton Head, SC and Jeanie Atkinson of Columbia, SC.

In the tournament division Carole Jones of Hillsborough, NC shot a 3-over 75 and leads by six strokes over Brenda Frye of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  This division plays a shorter course.

Players will be placed into flights within their division for the final round.  All players will tee off at 9:00am in a shot-gun shot.
