Trevor Phillips Takes a One Shot Lead at Carolinas Junior
High Point, NC—Rising high school sophomore Trevor Phillips of Inman, SC shot a first round 67 to take the lead in the 64th Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship. Phillips birdied two of his first three holes to start on the Willard Byrd designed Willow Creek course at High Point CC in High Point, NC. A double bogey on his fourth hole was a small set back, but made the turn with a one under par 35. Phillips made four birdies and five pars on his back nine for a 32 to finish off his 67. Nolan Mills of Charlotte, NC in one shot back at 68. 2011 Carolinas Junior champion Will Long of Gastonia, NC shot a three under par 69.
This annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
