KEITH HILLS GC TO HOST INAUGURAL CAROLINIAN AMATEUR ON MAY 20-22
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (February 29, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has announced the addition of the inaugural Carolinian Amateur to the 2016 tournament schedule. The event is a 54-hole stroke play tournament for male amateur golfers ages 16 and older who have a USGA handicap index of 7.4 or lower at a CGA member club. It will be contested on May 20-22, 2016 at Keith Hills Golf Club (Orange-Black) in Buies Creek, N.C.
An anticipated field of 144 golfers will compete on the Ellis Maples designed Orange and Black nines that opened for play in 1974 and has hosted six CGA championships, including the Carolinas Junior (1991), the NC Junior (1982), the NC Senior (1998-1999), the NC Four-Ball (2009) and the NC Women’s Senior (2006) along with numerous USGA amateur qualifying tournaments. Keith Hills GC is the home golf course for the men’s and women’s golf programs at Campbell University. It is also the home facility for Campbell University’s PGA Golf Management Program that trains young men and women who will lead the golf industry for years to come.

The championship format is 54- holes of stroke play. The field will be reduced to the low 70 and ties after 36-holes.
ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer 16 years of age or older who has a current USGA handicap index 7.4 or lower at a CGA member club. There is no residency requirement.
