43rd SC Amateur Match Play Preview
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 43rd South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship at The Windermere Club in Blythewood on June 17-21.

This is the sixth CGA championship hosted by The Windermere Club and third S.C. Amateur Match Play (1994, '99). The Pete Dye design has 13 truly "memorable" holes and no two holes are remotely alike. One of the Dye design objectives is to make golfers think carefully about each shot, consider each risk/ reward opportunity, and thus, use every club in the bag - making The Windermere Club an ideal venue for match play.
In last year's championship at Seabrook Island Club, Bradley Kauffman of Greer defeated stroke play qualifying medalist Brian Langley by an impressive 7 & 5 margin to secure his first CGA victory.
81 players are expected to compete at this year's championship. The winner earns an exemption into the 101st Carolinas Amateur Championship to be played July 9-12 at The Farm Course of Greensboro Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Defending champion Bradley Kauffman, 20, of Greer, is a rising junior on the Winthrop University golf team.

Andrew Novak, 20, of Mt. Pleasant, is the reigning South Carolina Amateur champion. He finished second at the 2014 Rice Planters Amateur at Snee Farm Country Club.

Robert Dargan, 45, of Columbia, two-time South Carolina Mid-Amateur champion (2001, '14).

Jarrett Grimes, 42, of Columbia, won the 2009 Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship. Jarrett teamed with Chris Mitchell to twice win the S.C. Partners Championship (2007, '15).

Chris Mitchell, 42, of Prosperity, tied for second at the 2015 Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship, shooting five-under-par 31 on his final nine holes. Chris teamed with Jarrett Grimes to twice win the S.C. Partners Championship (2007, '15).
The championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play followed by a cut to the low 32 players for match play.
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday by June 17, 2015, is a legal resident of South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club that does not exceed 7.4.
