VIRGINIAS LEADS 6-2 AFTER DAY ONE OF 33rd VIRGINIAS-CAROLINAS JUNIOR BOYS' TEAM MATCHES
Virginias sweeps four-ball matches to take four shot lead into Sunday's singles matches
Lynchburg, VA--After each team won two morning four-some matches, the Virginias junior team swept the afternoon four-ball matches and lead by a 6-2 margin heading into Sunday's singles matches.
The 33rd Virginias-Carolinas Junior Team Matches got started Saturday morning at Boonsboro CC in Lynchburg, VA with four four-some matches. Reed Bentley of Wellford, SC and Brady Hinkle of Lancaster, SC won the first match 3 and 2 over Vishal Giri of Chantilly, VA and Larkin Gross of Center Cross, VA. NC Junior champion Jack Massei of Cary teamed with Zakariya Butt of Summerville, SC to win their match 4 and 2 over Mark Lawrence, Jr. of Richmond, VA and Brandon Weaver of Purcellville, VA.
A total of 16 points are awarded with each match being worth one point. The Carolinas needs to win 8 points to retain the Vinny Giles Cup while the Virginias team need to win eight and one half points to win the matches. Each team is selected based on their participation and finishes in junior championship over the past six months administered by the Carolinas Golf Association, the Virginia State Golf Association and the West Virginia State Golf Association.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
