Fighting tough weather all afternoon, the opening round of the 13th Carolinas Super Senior Championship was able to be completed just before darkness descended onto the Country Club of South Carolina.

Lennie Barton of Raleigh, N.C. took an early lead in the 65+ Division after firing off a 3-under-par, 69 in the opening round. He leads Paul Simson of Raleigh, N.C. John Dennis of Greenville, S.C. and Joe Hendrick of Chesterfield, S.C. by just one shot, as they sit in a three-way-tie for second position at 2-under-par, 70. Barton will have to hold off Simson, who is a three-time champion of this event in 2017, 2018, and 2020.

Arlis Pike of Kernersville, N.C. leads the 70+ Division after the low round of the day, a stellar 4-under-par, 68. Michael Fisher of Pittsboro, N.C. and Logan Jackson of Winston-Salem, N.C. are well within striking distance after they turned in rounds of 2-under-par, 70 to hold second position. Pike is a 3-time Carolinas Super Senior Champion looking for his first 70+ Division title.

The final round will begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. with starting times off of Nos. 1 and 10. Stay tuned to our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for live coverage of the final round of the 13th Carolinas Super Senior Championship.
