Preview: 6th Carolinian Amateur Championship

 
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (May 19, 2021) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 6th Carolinian Amateur Championship at Keith Hills Golf Club (Orange-Black) in Buies Creek, N.C. from May 21 - 23, 2021. The field will compete at 6,717 yards on the Orange - Black course routing (par 36-36--72).

Opened in 1954, the course at the Keith Hills GC features 6,712 yards of a tranquil and picturesque landscape overlooking the banks of the Cape Fear River. This Ellis Mapes-designed course features a par-72 layout surrounded by luscious trees and beautiful views of the river. The course has a unique set up with three 9-hole courses, and this year's Carolinian Amateur will be played with an Orange-Black routing to create an 18-hole course for the event.
 

The championship format is 54 holes of stroke play. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 70 scores and ties. All play will be from approximately 6,717 yards, par 36-36--72.


Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 16th birthday by May 21, 2021, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active GHIN ® USGA Handicap Index ® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 10.4. There is no residency requirement for this tournament.

First Round - 18 Holes of Individual Stroke Play
Starting times from 8:00 a.m. to 10:05 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.
*Optional North Carolina and/or Carolinas Amateur Qualifying

 

Saturday, May 22

Second Round - 18 Holes of Individual Stroke Play
Starting times from 8:00 a.m. to 10:05 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Field is cut to the low 70 scores and ties

 

Sunday, May 23

Final Round - 18 Holes of Individual Stroke Play
Starting times from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)


The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
