2012 CGA Island Four-Ball Tournament A Great Success

West End, NC (3/7/12) - Brian Lott of Summerville, SC and Andy Gianoukos from Charleston, SC won their third consecutive Island Four-Ball Championship by edging Lisa and Jeff Sepesi of New London, NC by one shot. Heading into the final round Lott and Gianoukos trailed the Sepesis and the team of Michael Murray, and Cabell Poindexter from Greensboro, NC by one shot. The South Carolina duo fired a final round even par 72 against Jeff and Lisa’s 74 to take the title. The Murray Poindexter team fired a final round 76 to finish alone in third, three shots back.

In the Casa Flight the low gross and cigar smoking championship went to the Father/Son team of Calvin and Lee Lane. Their final round, one under par 71, left them eight shots clear of the second place team. The Playa Flight Low Gross winners were David and Ada Ellen Smith from Gastonia, NC. The Smiths, who have missed only one year at Casa, take their first low gross title.

The Links course was closed for renovation this year so our group was forced to play Pete Dye’s Teeth of the Dog course twice. Not a complaint was heard even though the Links course is a wonderful test in itself and would be considered a top destination if it were not up against Teeth and the Dye Fore courses. Next year all three courses should be available for the tournament.

With warm weather, great course conditions, all inclusive delicious food and adult beverages, all players were winners. New friendships were forged and old friends reunited. With net and gross prizes there is a place for players of all levels and no one leaves Casa without feeling they got their monies worth.

The dates for next year have been set for a return to Casa de Campo. The event will held February 16-23, 2013 with actual tournament days scheduled for February 20-22.
