Eligibility: Invitation only. Players are selected using a point system by each association.

Format: Day 1: Four-Ball matches. Day 2: Singles matches. 

Winner: Each match is worth 1 point. Total of 12 points available. Amateurs needs 6 points to retain Tar Heel Cup. Professionals need 6.5 points to win.

All-Time: Professionals leads 13-5-2 all-time in the series.
