The field for the 2015 championship is expected to consist of 60 players. Three-time champion Patty Moore of Charlotte will be looking for her 18th overall CGA championship. Other former champions competing this year include: Angela Stewart (2011) of Greenville and Melissa Sage (2006 & 2009) of Charlotte.

This will be the sixth Carolinas Golf Association championship hosted by Starmount Forest Country Club. Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek designed the original golf course and it was completed with consultation from Perry Maxwell. The course formally opened for play on Aug. 1, 1930. It was renovated in 1971 with consultation from George Cobb, and totally rebuilt in 1999 by architect Lester George.

Starmount Forest was the inaugural host for the Greater Greensboro Open (GGO) held in 1938. Sam Snead won that event at the age of 24. The club continued its involvement with the GGO, now formally known as the Wyndham Championship, until 1960. Starmount Forest hosted the 1947 Women's U.S. Open. Betty Jameson won with a score of 295, marking the first female golfer to score below 300 in a 72-hole tournament.

The North Carolina Women's Senior Amateur Championship is contested at 36 holes of stroke play with a Championship division and a Tournament division (shorter course). Players have the option to compete in either division.

Entry is open to any female golfer who has reached her 50th birthday by April 14, 2015, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a active GHIN® USGA handicap index at a CGA member club.
