SC Jr. Match Play Goes to Dataw Island

COTTON DIKE COURSE AT DATAW ISLAND CLUB TO HOST

38th SC JUNIOR MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has announced that the Cotton Dike course at Dataw Island Club in St. Helena Island, SC will host the 38th SC Junior Match Play Championship on July 7-10, 2015.  An anticipated field of 144 juniors golfers, 32 girls and 102 boys, will compete on the Tom Fazio designed course that hosted the 2013 Carolinas Senior Four-Ball, the 2014 Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball along with many other prestigious amateur and professional events.

Located just east of the historic waterfront town of Beaufort, SC in the heart of the sea islands, the private residential community of Dataw Island offers superlative golf and tennis, a full service deep water marina, excellent club facilities and gracious homes including golf course homes, marsh front homes, and water front homes, all in the casual lifestyle and abundant natural beauty found in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Once a prosperous sea island cotton plantation, Dataw Island is now a successful gated community of 1100 properties offering its residents the best in coastal, island living. Both Dataw Island and Beaufort, SC consistently rank high in nationally published lists of preferred places to live.

A series of dikes, created to generate more planting ground for 18th century plantation cotton fields, influenced the Cotton Dike course by Tom Fazio.  Jenkins Creek flows by nearly half of the 18 holes, between emerald fields and fairways.  In 2011 the Cotton Dike course was completely renovated and now plays better than ever. It has regained its place as one of the Lowcounty’s finest courses.

Registration for this annual championship opens on May 18th at 8 pm.
