Round one co-leader Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC shoots a round four under par 68 to separate herself from the pack heading into the final round of the 58th Carolinas Junior Girls’ Championship. Spicer, a rising high school junior, has a seven shot lead after her two day total of one under par 143 on the Donald Ross designed course at Hope Valley CC in Durham, NC. Spicer got off to a steady start making four straight par, then birdied the par 4 fifth hole. Spicer made the turn from the front side with a one under par 35. On the back side, Spicer shot a three under par 33 that included four birdies and alone bogey on the par five fifteenth hole. Spicer actually hit the fifteenth green in regulation, but her birdied putt sped past the hole and finished off the green in the green side fringe. A good chip and a putt gave her the only bogey on her score card.
Jessica Kittelberger of Raleigh, NC is alone in second place at six over par 150. Amy Wooten of Clinton, NC and first round co-leader Kendall Dobbins of Summerfield, NC are tied for third place at 151. Tied for fifth place at 153 are Holly McCann of Raleigh, NC and Mary-Frances Hall of State Road, NC.
The final round begins on Thursday with a 9:00 am shotgun start.
