13th NC Senior Four-Ball Heads to Bermuda Run CC from August 13-15

WEST END, NC -- The Carolinas Golf Association's 13th North Carolina Senior Four-Ball Championship will take place on August 13-15 at Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, NC.

The championship is 54-holes of four-ball stroke play. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 30 scores and ties. The championship will play at 6,543 yards, par 36-36—72.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by August 13, 2013, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.

Located just west of Winston-Salem, Bermuda Run Country Club is a 36-hole facility with the East and West courses. Championship will be contested on the East course. Bermuda Run was once home to the Bing Crosby Pro-Am, which at the time was one of the most famous Pro-Am tournaments in the country, with a notable celebrity field.  It also hosted the 1979 and 1986 NCAA golf championships. This is the 12th CGA championship hosted by Bermuda Run CC.

76 teams will compete for the 2013 NC Senior Four-Ball title and will include defending champions Jim Pearson and Jim Grainger of Charlotte, NC.   Pearson and Grainger posted a 201 to win by one stroke at Rolling Hills Country Club in Monroe, NC last August. The scoring record is held at 191 by Woody Greene, Linville, NC and David Strawn, Charlotte, NC at Greenville (NC) CC in 2005.David Strawn has a record three titles with two different partners (2005 with Woody Greene; 2007-08 with Logan Jackson). Strawn is entered with Logan Jackson seeking a third title together.
