Snyder shared the lead after round 1 with Jake Lewis of Cary, N.C., but found himself three shots behind Caden Baker of Mebane, N.C., after Baker fired an impressive second round 65, including a hole-in-one on the par three third. Snyder would fight back on the final day and take the lead on the back nine that he wouldn’t relinquish before finally draining a beautiful birdie putt on the 18th to lock up the win with a -15 total. Baker would settle for second place at-13, and Brett McLamb of Coats, N.C., secured third place at -10.

“I live on the seventh hole, so this feels incredible,” Snyder explained. “To beat the guys out here felt great, I played really solid golf the whole time and always stayed in it, just played my game.”

“I’d like to thank god most for the opportunity and the whole gang here watching and my parents and coaches for everything,” added Snyder.

The tournament was not without its challenges. Saturday’s second round was delayed twice in the late afternoon, leading to the remainder of that round being played on Sunday morning. After the cut was made, the final round was switched to an 11am shotgun start.

The Carolinas Golf Association would like to thank Keith Hills Golf Club and all of its staff, especially Director of Golf Martha Sutton, Golf Course Superintendent Spencer Thomas, and General Manager Dawn Jones, for graciously hosting the 9th Carolinian Amateur Championship.
