CAMDEN, S.C. – Championship final match play results of the 66th Carolinas Four-Ball Championship hosted by Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 (6455 yards, par 35-35—70, 71.6/128).

AC Flora high school teammates Ryan Marter/Jack Parrott won the 66th Carolina Four-Ball Championship with a 1-up victory over NC State teammates Justin Hood/Jake McBride.  A very exciting and close final.  The match featured fireworks early on with three holed chip shots in the first five holes, and neither team held more than a one hole lead all day.

On the first hole, future South Carolina golfer, Jack Parrott chipped in for birdie to give Marter/Parrot a 1-up lead.  Jake McBride answered back with birdie on the second hole and a chip in eagle on the third hole that gave Hood/McBride the 1-up lead; their only lead of the day.  Not to be outdone, future Wofford College golfer, Ryan Marter chipped in on the fifth hole to square the match. On the eighth hole, Marter converted a short birdie putt to give Marter/Parrott another 1-up lead. They held the 1-up lead until the fourteenth hole when their only bogey of the day gave the Woldpack teammates a win to square the match back up.  The fifteenth and sixteenth holes proved to be the pivotal points in the match.  “We thought we gave it away on 15,” Parrott said.  Justin Hood stuck his approach shot to 4 feet, but couldn’t convert the short birdie putt to win the hole, Marter on the swing in momentum “I told Jack that was our sign.”  Parrott birdied the sixteenth hole which gave hgih scool teammates the 1-up lead they would never relinquish. Parrott hit his iron shot on the par-3 sixteenth to 3 feet and converted the putt. “I was really just aiming at the center of the green, but it felt good, the wind pushed it.”  On the seventeenth hole, Hood couldn’t believe his eyes as his birdie putt to tie the match hit the back of the hole but stayed out. Both teams had makeable birdie putts on the eighteenth hole, but none fell, and Ryan Marter/Jack Parrott won their first CGA Championship.  Along with the trophies won, both players earned exemptions into the Carolinas Amateur Championship.
