ERNIE NEWTON and JIM PRIDGEN WIN CAROLINAS SUPER SENIOR FOUR-BALL….AGAIN
HENDERSONVILLE, NC – Final round results of the 4th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Hendersonville Country Club in Hendersonville, N.C. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 (6050 yards, par 35-35—70, 69.9/124).
In the 4th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship, 52 teams vied to knock the only champions of this event off the throne. After 36 holes, the usual suspects came out on top again. Partners Jim Pridgen of Jamestown, N.C. and Ernie Newton of Winston-Salem, N.C., now 4-time Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Champions, bested the field again with two rounds of five-under 65 to finish 10-under.
Pridgen and Newton were neck and neck down the sretch with the team of Arlis Pike of Kernersville, N.C. and Charlie Parks of Asheboro, N.C., who finished one shot back at nine-under. Pridgen and Newton held a three shot lead heading to the back nine, but had to birdie Holes #15 and #16 and drain an eight-foot par putt on the final hole to secure their 4th Super Senior Championship.
They have played in several Four-Ball events together and look forward to playing in the Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball together each year. “He is a great partner, I wouldn’t trade him for anyone.”, Newton said of playing with Pridgen. Pridgen shared the sentiment, “Ernie is a special guy, I enjoy his company and friendship, but he is a great golfer too!”
Ernie Newton summed up what it means to win the Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship, “To win this four times is pretty awesome.”
First round leaders Roger Taylor of Conover, N.C. and Bob Yow of Clinton, N.C. shot one-under par 69 in Round 2 to finish in a tie for third three shots back at seven-under par.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 65th birthday by October 14, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.
