SC Junior Match Play Results

WARNOCK CONTINUES STRONG PLAY ADVANCING TO SEMIFINALS
Czarnecki to face Tindal in Girls' Championship Match
 
 
Jordan Warnock of Roebuck, SC is starting to feel right at home on the Cotton Dike course at Dataw Island Club in St. Helena, SC.  Warnock, a rising high school junior, won the boys' qualifying medalist award on Tuesday and then has moved through the first four rounds of match play with relative ease.  "I played really well today and made the putts when I needed to" stated Warnock.  "I am really focused on winning and hope to continue my play tomorrow morning in the semis, but I know there are some strong players still in the tournament" added Warnock.  In his morning match, Warnock defeated Levi Moody of Greenville, SC 5 and 4 and then advanced to Friday's semifinal's beating Daniel Castleberry of Greer, SC 1 up. 
 
Warnock will play Matt Lehman of Bluffton, SC in the 8 am semifinal match.  Lehman, a recent high school graduate, advance to the semifinals beating Seth Taylor of Gaffney, SC 3 and 2 and then beat Brandon McBride of Bluffton, SC 4 and 2.  Nick Willis of Cowpens, SC will face off against Reed Bentley of Welford, SC in the second semifinal match at 8:10 Friday morning.  Willis, a rising high school junior, defeated Charles Dallery of Sumter, SC in the morning match 2 and 1 and then beat Zach Gordon of Gaffney, SC 1up in a tight afternoon match.  Bentley, also a rising high school junior, won his morning match Zakariay Butt of Summerville, SC 1 up and then advanced to the semifinals beating Patrick Golden of Murrells Inlet, SC in extra holes on the 20th hole.
 
In the girls' championship, top ranked Ashely Czarnecki of Greenville, SC advanced to the championship match and will play Jodee Tindal of Rock Hill, SC.  Czarnecki, a rising high school senior won the SC State Junior (stroke play championship) in June and is looking to win both state junior titles in the same year.  Czarnecki beat defending champion Morgan Cox of Easley, SC 4 and 3 in their quarterfinals match and then defeated Hailey Cleary of Lexington, SC 3 and 2.  Tindal, a rising high school junior, advanced through the quarterfinals by a 1 up margin over Carly Lyvers of Greenville, SC in the quarterfinals and then beat qualifying medalist Anna Eddy of Hilton Head, SC 4 and 3 to set up Friday morning's championship match.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
Now in its 106th year, the CGA annually conducts 43 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. It also runs over 140 One-Day (net and gross) events and qualifying for USGA national championships. The CGA serves golf in the Carolinas with numerous programs such as: the USGA Handicap System; tournament management software and support; course measuring and course/slope ratings; agronomy consultation; answers about the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status, and Handicapping; Carolinas Golf Magazine; Interclub series; Tarheel Youth Golf Association; Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame; expense assistance for USGA Junior and Girls' Junior qualifiers from the Carolinas; and the Carolinas Golf Foundation (CGF). The CGF has distributed more than $1,500,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
