The Jackson Course at Rock Barn opened in 1969. Undulating fairways and changes in elevation throughout the course puts ball position at a premium. Rock Barn has two four-person teams competing on their home course. Other teams representing Cowan's Ford Country Club, Carmel Country Club, Pinehurst Country Club, Pinewild Country Club, and Pinewood Country Club are in the inaugural field. Each club team will be comprised of two four-ball sides. Each side will play an 18-hole qualifying round in a four-ball stroke play format on the first day of competition.
Following Tuesday's round of four-ball stroke play qualifying, the Championship Flight will be comprised of the four club teams with the lowest aggregate team score (i.e. the two four-ball sides on each team added together). The First Flight will be made up of the remaining three teams. In the Championship Flight, the first and fourth-seeded club teams will play against each other while the second and third-seeded club teams play against each other on Wednesday. The club team with the most total points advances. The losing team is placed in a consolation flight. On Thursday, the winning club teams will play against each other while the losing club teams will play against each other. Point totals are not carried over – each club team starts with a fresh slate. The club team with the most total points at the end of their matches in each flight will win their flight and receive a prize. Each four-ball match is worth 18 points (one point per hole). At the end of both matches, the points from each side’s match will be added together for the club team point total.
Any CGA member club may enter a team of four female golfers who belong to that club into the Carolinas Women's Club Team Championship. Every member of the team must hold an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at the CGA member club they are representing. Members of the team must also meet the following eligibility policies: entry is open to any female amateur golfer who has reached her 13th birthday by November 7, 2017, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index®.
