North Carolina USGA State Team Criteria
2017 USGA Women's State Team - North Carolina Team Selection
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 30, 2017) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has announced the North Carolina USGA Women's State Team selection criteria for the final USGA Women's State Team Matches. The national championship, which began as a USGA centennial celebration in 1995, is being canceled after after it's 12th playing in 2017. The Men's State Team Matches are also being canceled.
The North Carolina Women's State Team will consist of three female players over the age of 13 who are legal residents of North Carolina and a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN Handicap Index. Note: Per NCAA Bylaws, current college golfers are not eligible to play on USGA State Teams.
The first two spots on the North Carolina State Team will be filled by the two highest-ranked eligible North Carolina players based on Carolinas Women's Rankings points from the following events: Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship, Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship, North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship, U.S. Women's Open Championship, U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, and the Women's North & South Championship.
The final spot on the North Carolina State Team will be determined based on a 36-hole two-day qualifier at Pinewild Country Club's Holly Course in Pinehurst, N.C. on August 12-13. The qualifier is open to any female amateur golfer who has reached her 13th birthday by August 12, 2017, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN Handicap Index at a CGA member club that does not exceed 9.4. The final USGA Women's State Team Championship will be held at Las Campas in Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 26-28, 2017.
About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
