Carolinas Mixed Team Registration Deadline Extended to August 27
Registration deadline for the 8th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship has been extended to Tuesday, August 27. Championship will be played August 31-September 1 at Myrtlewood Golf Club (PineHills course) in Myrtle Beach, SC. Entry fee is $220.00 which includes cart & range fees for each team, tournament prizes and final round lunch.
Entry is open to any team comprised of a male amateur and a female amateur golfer who have reached their 13th birthday by August 31, 2013, are legal residents of North Carolina or South Carolina, are members in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and have a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.
New Format for 2013: The championship is contested over 36 holes using a mixed format of four-ball and modified alternate shot. Gross scores only. Teams may choose to compete in any division in which they are eligible: "Championship" division, "Tournament" division (shorter course) and "Senior" division (male age 55+, female age 50+). "Tournament" division plays a shorter course and is ineligible for the overall championship. "Senior" division is for teams whose male partner is age 55+ and the female partner is age 50+.
Each division will be pre-flighted by total team handicap index. Team handicap index is computed by adding 2/3 of the lower handicap index to 1/3 of the higher handicap index.
Round 1: Four-Ball stroke play. (Each team member plays their own ball. Best score of the two counts for the team score).
Round 2: Modified Alternate Shot stroke play (Both team members hit from their respective teeing ground and then select the ball to be played. Team members alternate strokes until the ball is holed. A team must complete the hole with the ball selected).
Approximate yardage:
Championship Division (Men=6600 yards; Women=5600 yards).
Tournament Division (Men=6000 yards; Women=5000 yards).
Senior Division (Men=6000 yards; Women=5000 yards).
