Carper Shoots Final Round 64 to Claim Jimmy Anderson Boys’ Invitational

Jude Carper of Cornelius, N.C. secured the 16th Jimmy Anderson Boys’ Invitational at Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C. With rounds of 72, 71, and an impressive Final Round 64, Carper finished at 3-under to claim the title. 

 

On Saturday, the field played 36 holes of golf. In Round 1, Carper shot 72, 2-over. After the first 18 holes, Lake Williams of Greenville, N.C. led the pack at 3-under. Behind him was Caedmon Albertyn of Monroe, N.C. at 2-under, and multiple other players at 1-under and even-par. Carper was five strokes back from the lead as they began playing the second round of 18 for the day. 

 

In Round 2, Carper recorded a score of 71, 1-over, to finish at 3-over for the day. At the end of Saturday with 36 holes complete, Jackson West of Greenville, N.C. sat at the top of the leaderboard at 1-under. He shot rounds of 70-69 to have the lead by one stroke heading into the Final Round on Sunday. Carper lessened his gap from the lead, sitting four strokes back with 18 holes left to play on Sunday. 

 

In Sunday’s Final Round, Carper kicked it into high gear starting with three pars followed by back to back birdies on his fourth and fifth holes. At the turn, West maintained the lead by three strokes at 4-under. However, Carper had more birdies in store. 

 

With three more birdies on his second nine, Carper got himself to even-par through 16 holes. To finish strong, Carper birdied his 17th hole, and eagled his final hole (par-4 hole 2), shooting an impressive 64 for the day. This got him to 3-under for the tournament, finishing at the top of the leaderboard with a three-round total of 207 to secure the win by four strokes.

 

“I putted really well and hit a lot of fairways and greens today,” Carper shared about what he did well today to take home the trophy.

 

Regarding what the win means to him, Carper shares, “It boosts my confidence heading into college next year, and I want to thank my mom and dad for coming out and supporting me.”

 

Hayden Magnussen of Greensboro, N.C., Aidan Wilson of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Michael Snyder of Lillington, N.C., all finished tied for second place at 1-over.
