Edmondson and Fox Win the Carolinas Senior Four-Ball

 

 

 

WILSON, N.C. (March 22, 2023) -- Final results of the 6th North Carolina Super Senior Four-Ball Championship from Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C. on March 22, 2023. The 65+ Division competed at 6,280 yards and the 70+ Division competed at 5,887 yards (par 36-36--72).

36 holes were not enough to decide the 65 and over Division of the North Carolina Super Senior Four-Ball, as tandem Preston Edmondson ( Morrisville, NC) & Steve Fox (Pinehurst, NC) won on the second playoff hole with Edmondson making a clutch birdie. The duo would hold off Gary Howze (Surf City, NC) and Randall Sullins (Claremont, NC). Both groups finished the two championship rounds at 7-under. Fox, recently awarded the 2022 CGA Senior Player of the Year award, secured four birdies in his final round to help the cause.

 

Charlie Parks (Asheboro, NC) and partner Doug Owens (Albemarle, NC) were hot on their heels with a 6-under, including a blazing 67 on day 2. Keith Waters (Raleigh, NC) and partner Macon Moye (Southern Pines, NC) and the team of Cliff Seastrunk and Lennie Barton (both of Raleigh, NC) finished in a tie for fourth at 5-under.

 

In the 70 and over Division, Robert Desjardins (Matthews, NC) and Bill Boles (Wilson, NC) took home the prestigious hardware finishing at 8-under,  winning by 2 shots. Boles led the way with 5 birdies over 36 holes of play.

 

Keith Li and Pete Allen (both of Southport, NC) secured second place with a strong 6-under showing through the two days of competition. In a tie for third place at 5-under were the team of Jerry Hartsell (Midland, NC) and Vardaman Banks (Matthews, NC), and the duo of Don Slater (Durham, NC) and Rickey Luzar (Pinehurst, NC).

 

All champions expressed their gratitude to Wilson Country Club and Carolinas Golf Association for the hospitality and first-class competition.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
