First Round Results of the NC Super Senior

DURHAM, N.C. (September 9, 2019) – First round results of the 12th North Carolina Super Senior Championship at Croasdaile Country Club in Durham, N.C. on September 9, 2019.

Two golfers are tied at the top after the opening round of the 12^th N.C. Super Senior Championship. John Fritz of Mint Hill, N.C. and Evan Long of Charlotte, N.C. both fired first round scores of 5-under-par, 67 to take a two-shot lead into Tuesday’s final round.

Hot on their heels is the reigning Carolinas Super Senior Player of the Year, Russ Perry of Winston-Salem, N.C. Perry shot 3-under-par, 69 in the first round to sit in solo third place.

Logan Jackson of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Mike Kelly of Sanford, N.C. shot the only other under-par rounds in the Championship Division with 2-under-par, 70s.

In the 70+ Division, Ernie Newton of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Rick Kline of Pinehurst, N.C. both shot 5-under-par, 67 to take a one-shot lead into the final round.

The 2017 champion, Robert Desjardins of Mathews, N.C. sits only one shot back after a 4-under-par, 68 in round one.

This championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer, age 65 and older, who is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index®. Players may sign up for the Championship Division or 70+ Division.

Championship Division (Men Age 65+): Approximate yardage = 6,100 yards.
70+ Division (Both team members age 70+): Approximate yardage = 5,600 yards
